Arachnida waarvan het prosoma gelijkvormig is en twee midden (mediane) en zes of tien zij (laterale) -ogen heeft en waarvan het opisthisoma in mesosoma en metasoma onder te verdelen valt, dat elk op zich uit zes somieten bestaat.
Pedicel niet aanwezig; telson in de vorm van een gifstekel. Cheliceren bestaand uit drie segmenten, klein, chelaat. Pedipalpen met zes segmenten, groot, krachtig, chelaat. Poten met zeven segmenten, tarsi met drie klauwen. Sternum drie- of vijfhoekig. Tweede mesosomatische somiet draagt een paar karakteristieke pectines.
Ademhaling bij middel van vier boeklongen op de derde tot de zesde opisthosomatische somieten.

Arachnida in which the prosoma is uniform and bears two median and six or ten lateral eyes and the opisthosoma is divisible into mesosoma and metasoma, each of six somites.
Pedicle absent; telson in the form of a poison-sting. Chelicerae of three segments, small, chelate. Pedipalpi of six segments, large, powerful, chelate. Legs of seven segments, tarsi with three claws. Sternum triangular or pentagonal. Second mesosomatic somite bears a pair of characteristic pectines. Respiration by four pairs of lung-books on third to sixth opisthosomatic somites.
